Hi everyone,
Welcome to my first blog - I am a complete novice at writing blogs, and apologise for the general lack of insight that is going to define this first entry.
A couple of things about me then: I chose ENGL3604 as I did all film units last year, and all English last semester, so I figured this unit would be somewhere in between.
I love film, and like a fairly wide range of films, from Jurassic Park to Amelie. And I confess to absolutely loving Hollywood films - bring on the Happy Endings, Star Power and the Oscars - I'm a total sucker for all of it!
Despite my addiction to Hollywood, I do like watching films that are outside of the 'mainstream' as well, as I'm assuming many of those in this course will be. I enjoy learning about where conventions came from, especially things that we usually take for granted in modern films.
Charlie Chaplin is my hero - "A day without laughter is a day wasted." On that note, signing off, to read blogs that I am certain will be far more interesting than mine!

Hi Tracy - love your formatting! Sounds like you're coming at this subject from a completely different angle to me, I've never done a pure film unit before!
